Alfonso Ponticelli & Swing Gitan

Chicago’s premier gypsy jazz band

We are sure you will enjoy their vibrant blend of the jubilant swing of early jazz with the feisty passion of gypsy acoustic guitar.  They continue to perform internationally, but have found a home in Chicago with regular appearances at the Green Mill, the Chicago Jazz Festival, the Field Museum and the Chicago Cultural Center.  They also had the honor of performing on the opening night of the Pritzker Pavilion in Millenium Park.  We are extremely fortunate to have them join us at our historic Arcada Theater.

It’s some of the most joyous music ever created: UPBEAT, EXUBERANT, SURGING WITH ENERGY! – Howard Reich, Arts critic, Chicago Tribune

 Fat Babies

Traditional Jazz with Big Band Swing

It’s rare to find a group of musicians in thei 20s and 30s who play the music of the 1920s and 30s with such great enthusiasm and fun!  The Fat Babies have definitely been able to bring an authentic energy and spirit to jazzz and draw the audience into their exhilarating sound.  Finding that blend between traditional jazz and familiar big band swing, the Fat Babies are sure to give a performance that will have you tapping your toes, swaying in your seat, and grinning with joy.  Their hard driving sound has made this group a popular favorite for both dancers and listeners alike.

We guarantee there will be dancing in the aisles.  Slick back your hair, grab the fedora, and head over to the Arcada!

See the dedicated Rhythm on the River website for more information about the event, the Pre-Party, special offers, and to purchase tickets.
